Becoming a Surrogate
What Happens If a Surrogacy Match Falls Apart?
March 25, 2026 · 6 min read · On Fertility Ground Surrogacy
Match dissolutions happen in surrogacy — for a variety of reasons. The question is: what does the agency do when they do?
OFG's Match Dissolution Policy
- Surrogate welfare check within 48 hours — your coordinator contacts you personally
- Financial settlement within 5 business days — all owed compensation paid
- Compassionate, dignified exit — no blame, no pressure
- Priority rematching — if you want to continue, you go to the front of the matching queue
Common Reasons for Dissolution
Personality conflicts, changed circumstances on either side, medical findings during screening, or misaligned expectations. Most dissolutions happen before the medical process begins.
Your Protection
Because OFG requires the escrow account to be fully funded after contract signing, your compensation for any work already completed is protected regardless of the dissolution reason.
From Our Founder
Bree — Founder & CEO, On Fertility Ground
Match dissolutions happen. What matters is how the agency handles them. At OFG, the protocol is documented, the financial settlement is prompt, and the exit is compassionate.
If you want to continue after a dissolution, you go to the front of the matching queue. If you do not, we respect that completely. Either way, you are treated with dignity.
